Updated On: August 12, 2008 08:16 PM

Local 414 has embarked on its new mission.  Out with the old and in with the new.  We are changing the way that we do business and how we look.  Local 414 would like your help in doing this.  We are looking for new ideas and information on what you would like to see on your web site.  If you have any suggestions, comments or ideas, please send us an e-mail on what you want to see.  You can contact Jeff Weidner, President of Local 414 with your ideas.

New Online History Celebrates IAFF Legacy

Updated On: March 1, 2006

Eighty-eight years ago, 36 delegates gathered in Washington, DC to form the International Association of Fire Fighters. Today, the 272,000 members-strong IAFF has assembled and documented this union’s achievements and accomplishments into a comprehensive online history.

This unique online exhibit chronicles the IAFF's great legacy so that affiliates and members across North America understand and appreciate the hard work of the IAFF's founders to ensure better wages, safe working conditions and improved quality of life and the importance of continuing this IAFF tradition of protecting the protectors.

IAFF Makes Progress in Diversity....

Updated On: February 3, 2006

January 31, 2006 - IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger told a crowd of more than 250 affiliate leaders attending at the Ernest “Buddy” Mass Human Relations Conference, “For us, the challenge is not to accept where the fire service is and where this union is in terms of diversity because doing so would be a failure of leadership of the highest order. We must also admit that a lack of diversity in the fire service is not new. It’s a challenge that has existed since the beginning of our proud profession and too little has been done about it.” Read more...
