Local 414 has embarked on its new mission.  Out with the old and in with the new.  We are changing the way that we do business and how we look.  Local 414 would like your help in doing this.  We are looking for new ideas and information on what you would like to see on your web site.  If you have any suggestions, comments or ideas, please send us an e-mail on what you want to see.  You can contact Jeff Weidner, President of Local 414 with your ideas.

Members of Local 414:

Hope everybody enjoyed a great holiday season and is looking forward to another new year ! I'd like to start something new for 2009 and that is an ongoing support of the local food bank for those in our community who are in need.

With the economy still lagging a bit, the need for donations is as great now as ever. What I'm asking for is your support for this cause by bringing along a non-perishable food item to each union meeting in the upcoming year. I'll get it over to the food pantry at the Shalom center and together we can help keep those shelves a little less bare in the new year.

Also, if you are in need on a union sticker, we'll trade you one for your donation to the food bank, see you at the meeting!

IAFF Makes Progress in Diversity....

January 31, 2006 - IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger told a crowd of more than 250 affiliate leaders attending at the Ernest “Buddy” Mass Human Relations Conference, “For us, the challenge is not to accept where the fire service is and where this union is in terms of diversity because doing so would be a failure of leadership of the highest order. We must also admit that a lack of diversity in the fire service is not new. It’s a challenge that has existed since the beginning of our proud profession and too little has been done about it.” Read more...
